Gouache on A3 board

The beautiful 330 P4 in the beautiful Sicilian scenery of the Targa Florio. Shame Vaccarella was involved in an accident on the first lap. Still a pretty scene though.

The P4 has always been one of my favorite cars, a picture exists somewhere of me standing next to one aged 4 or 5!

Apologies for the reflection, the picture is currently framed. Will de-frame it and upload a better picture at another time.

colors are wonderful and so is the composition. The beautiful greenish background makes the red ferrari pop out.

This is an instant fav

Thanks! Also really glad that you appreciate the fact it's painted with Gouache- It gives good vibrant colour and it's relatively easy to work with but it's tough to get precision, depth, feel and sharpness. You obviously understand it so I won't make any more excuses! I like it because it because it's a bit different; not many motoring artists seem to use it (probably for good reason!) I worked almost exclusively with it for quite some time - it's a real love hate medium... right now I hate it so I'm experimenting with other media!

Oh my!
I love the composition with the car filling the picture plane at such an interesting angle.
Your proportions are spot on, and you did an excellent job on the foreshortening. You nailed the lines and character of this beautiful Ferrari very well.
You have a beautiful range of values here with some great contrast. And great use of value changes to show the planes and contours of the body.
And you did this in gouache? Liquid chalk? That's amazing!
It's a sterling piece of work!
It's a very strong piece of work!
